Vision Statement

Our mission shall be to bind together followers of Jesus Christ, for the purpose of sharing in the worship of God and making His will dominate in the lives of people, individually and collectively, especially as that will is set forth in the life, teachings and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In obedience to this call we
- worship God through praise, preachings, and music
- teach so that all ages may grow in faith and understanding
- witness to our faith through evangelism and outreach
- care for one another as God cared for each of us
- honor the glory of God's creation by living responsibly on this earth
- work in the world for reconciliation, peace, and justice

We value in our church life
- challenging preaching of the Word
- exceptional music
- stimulating Christian education, Biblical exploration, and
theological reflection
- our role as regional church, auspiciously located in the Moosehead
Lake area
- our leadership role in the community and Conference
- the heritage and traditions of our congregation
- our ministry to the needs of the Moosehead Lake Region and state of Maine
- effective and efficient administration, planning, and implementation
of programming
- the diversity of God's presence

We commit ourselves to
- grow as a community of faith, both spiritually and numerically
- enhance the commitment of our time, talent, thought, and treasure
through creative year-round effort
- take risks, after prayerful deliberation, study and sharing. To speak
God's truth in love and act on difficult issues that affect the congregation
and the world.
- discover and demonstrate in our life together the diverse and inclusive
body of Christ
- enrich our community by empowering each member to use God's gifts
for ministry
- provide for the creative expression of faith through all of the fine arts
- strengthen and enhance relationships within the church to the end
that members, long-time and new, young and old - know and enjoy
one another in a community of faith characterized by love and acceptance
- maintain a process of planning and evaluation of program, staff,
and ministry
- maximize the use and care of our facilities
- encourage, respect, and support one another in the spiritual journey
- grow our ministry as a regional church, currently in three locations
- creatively minister with, and to, the unique seasonal tourism potential
of our Moosehead Lake Region
- anticipate and plan to celebrate the 145th Anniversary of our church in
August 2004 and the 150th Anniversary in August of 2009
- anticipate and plan to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the
Rockwood Community church in 2007

In gratitude for God's love and with humble reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit, we go forth under the authority of Scripture and the policy and discipline of the United Church of Christ.
