| Imagine traveling to
church by boat ... during the summer season, each of the UCC local
ministries affords just such an experience. The Union Evangelical Church (Greenville) is located at the southern
tip of Moosehead Lake across the street from the municipal parking
lot where the Steamship Katahdin is docked. Public boat landings
are available from May - October. The photo to the right shows one of our "Town Gazebo Services" - located by the public landing in the town of Greenville. The 2008 schedule for these ever-popular, come-as-you-are, early morning services is:
June 15
July 13
July 27
Aug. 17
Sept. 7 (Fly-In)
Service starts at 7:30 a.m.
The Rockwood Community Chapel is located 20 miles north on the
west side of Moosehead Lake. A public boat landing is just yards
away and from here one can also see the famous Kineo Island ...
our very own "natural wonder".
The Chesuncook Village Church is located at the northwest tip
of Chesuncook Lake and offers a unique ministry opportunity for
both traveling pastors and lay people. If you dock at Chesuncook
landing, the church is just 1/4 mile up the hill. Boyscout troups
are frequent visitors to this little church in the woods! |
