Almost
Thanksgiving
(1930's style)
There's a turkey in the holding pen - we'll call him "Mr.
Tom."
He's getting plumper every day; our thanks should go to Mom.
And we've marked the biggest pumpkin out in the garden patch.
Everyone loves pun'kin pie - we'll make a good, big batch.
Make sure the house is extry clean. We better all pitch in,
so we can all be prideful when we greet our vis'tin' kin.
We'll gather 'round the table and first we'll say a prayer,
then stuff ourselves to misery with good Thanksgiving fare.
Mashed potatoes, turnip, succotash, gravy and stuffin',
cranberries, olives, celery, bread puddin', hot corn muffin.
Everyone anticipates the best meal of the year.
It sure gets awful hard to wait when Thanksgivings' almost here!
