KINDERGARTEN

This class of Kindergartners and First Graders in La Grange were the first to be subjected
to the Lesson Plan for harvesting seeds and how to tell the difference between a fir tree and spruce tree.
The instructor had more to learn about presenting the information to this age group then the students had
in receiving the information. In the end, with the help of their regular teacher, it turned out pretty well
and future classes benefited from total learning experience.

The second class of the day, the first in the Milo Elementary School really did benefit from what
the instuctor learned in La Grange and talking with the teachers. At the end of the class they all had a small cup containing two spruce cones. As
soon as the cones open up and the seeds drop out, the kids will be ready to prepare the seeds for planting in the spring.

One of the ways to tell the difference between a fir tree and a spruce tree is by the smell. Nearly all
the students could smell the difference. However, one little boy insisted the spruce tree smelled better than the fir tree.
Finally, it was realized that if he thought the spruce smelled better than the fir, that was his reality.

After we were through smelling the branches, we gave them a close look. It's pretty hard to tell the difference
just by looking as most of the kids agreed.

"What do we do next Mr. Law?" These kids seem to have completed the lesson on recognizing the difference and are
just waiting for the next step of the lesson plan.

The Kindergartners at the Brownville Elementary School have finsished the lesson on telling the difference between
fir and spruce trees and are posing for their "Graduation Picture". Mrs. Law, the assistant instructor for this lesson seems to be taking
a well earned rest in the background.
